The Great hall was decorated aptly for an event such as this ball. The tables were moved to form a square dance floor, while the floor was polished to perfection. The orchestra was standing on a podium, ready to play whatever people wanted.

Lily entered the ballroom alone. She had not managed to find a date for herself, but she didn't mind that much. At least she was going to have fun. Her red dress suited her perfectly, and her hair was up in a sophisticated hairstyle. She dared say she looked very good.

Erika entered the Great Hall which looked marvelous for the ball. She was wearing a sexy black dress and her hair was pulled into a curly up-do. She had decided to give up on date searching a while ago and just go alone. So she walked over to were her fellow sixth year Gryffindor, Lily Evans, was and smiled happily. "It's great," she said to Lily.

The professor crossed her arms heavily over her chest as she looked at the dress lying on her bed. She could not believe that she had actually agreed on going to the ball the school was holding. She was going to chaperone the students, though, for she knew that some adults had the tendency to wander off because they did not like the music being played or because they tired of watching over the students. Maria was going to be the responsible one and watch the students the entire time. She doubted that she would be doing any dancing for the simple fact that she had no date. The only man she would have brought with her as a date would have been her husband, but since he was a Muggle, that was not possible. She was going alone. There was nothing wrong with that, of course, for she would have preferred going alone than with some random other person that could have asked her. She had promised herself, however, that if someone happened to ask her to dance (it was a ball, after all) then she would dance with them unless it was a slow lovey-dovey couples song. She was not going to miss out on all the fun. Even old, married women liked to party...
A heavy sigh escaped the professor's lips as she looked at the dress one last time. She told herself that she would need something dressy in case there was an occasion such as a ball, but she had asked her husband to pack her clothes for her since she was in the midst of making their last meal together before she left for Hogwarts. Apparently he had put one of his favorite dresses in there rather than one she would have preferred. The DRESS was a simple one. It was somewhat low-cut at the chest with straps to hold the dress on her shoulders. It was floor-length and flowed loosely around the legs, but everywhere else was meant to be perfectly fitting and shape-defining; the colors were fairly dark (ones that Maria preferred) and blended well and match the woman's skin tone and hair nicely. Why wouldn't Emilio like it? It was right up his alley, and he was the only one to have seen his wife wearing it since they had worn it out to dinner on their twenty-fifth anniversary. That was aside from the point, however. Maria had also asked her husband to pack a dress shawl to wear over whatever dress he packed for her because she felt somewhat uncomfortable with half her upper body hanging out. However, he did not pack a dress shawl. What made things worse was that he also did not pack another dress just in case. So, she was stuck with this one unless she was going down there and looking plain. She sighed once again and shook her head as she knew it was time to slip into the dress.
The professor carefully pulled the dress over her head and put her arms through the holes where the straps were. She pulled it down over her body and allowed the bottom part to fall over her body gently as she tried to adjust the rest of it. Apparently she had gained some pounds in the past four years, for she was having trouble trying to slip into the dress. It was tight around the waist and made her feel like she was wearing a girdle. She breathed inwards and helf her stomach in as she pulled the rest of the dress down over her waist and fixed it. At least she could breathe now, but there was another problem arising. Sighing, the professor pulled the upper part of the dress up a bit so that it covered half the cleavage she had hanging out. It worked a little bit, but she still felt amazingly uncomfortable. With a sigh, she looked around in hopes of finding something in her office that she could use to wrap around her shoulders. Sadly, there was nothing.
One she felt save enough to move without the dress ripping or anything popping out, Maria sat down on the edge of her bed and slipped on her HEELED SHOES. Once they were both on, she stood up and realized that the heels made her slightly taller, but not by much. Either way, she would always be that simple 5'2" she always had been as an adult no matter how many heels she wore.
She looked in the mirror. She felt that her shoulders were too brought and her chest was seemingly too large for her body. It was just the dress; knew that that in the end. She ran her hand down her sides and to her hips. Well, nothing had changed there. Her hips were as big as they always had been. She then turned to the side and looked at her backside. Nothing had changed there either, which made her happy. She had wondered why her husband was always so touchy-feeling. Now she knew. With a light giggle, the professor did a turn and nearly tripped over her own feet in the process. Hrm...she would have to get used to the heels by the time she got to the Great Hall of else she would be kicking them off as soon as she got there.
The professor checked the time. She had about ten minutes before she had to be down the staircases and in the great hall. However, since she liked being early for things, she ran a brush quickly through her slightly curled hair and allowed the light and natural curls to remain. She had no time to straighten it and put it in one of the fashioned styles the other girls would probably be wearing. Besides, it wasn't for her. It was for the students. She was strictly there as a chaperone. For a second the professor gazed into the mirror and thought something was missing. She usually wore necklaces with dresses like that and when she was going somewhere nice. Necklaces were because of her husband because he liked a reason to stare at her chest. Okay...no necklace meant less attention. So the only piece of jewelry she was wearing was the wedding band on her left hand. That was all she needed anyway. She just needed enough to say she was taken for life and would never be free.
The professor looked around the room and didn't think she would need anything else. She wore no make-up. No extra jewelry. She carried no handbag. So, she left the room and paced the corridors. As she walked down the staircases, she took them slowly as to not trip and fall or twist her ankle on her shoes. However, just before she entered the Great Hall, she slid a bit on her heel and nearly fell over. She regained her posture though even though it was obvious she was embarrassed about something as she entered; her cheeks were slightly red.
There were already a few people in the Great Hall. The professor looked around and tried to look as pleasant and exciting as possible as she entered. She nodded to a few people and spoke to no one as she made her way towards the refreshments table and the area where there were various seats for those who were there to take a break from dancing. Maria grabbed herself a chair and slid it off on its own before grabbing a cup of punch. She seated herself in the seat where she planned to stay for ninety-percent of the time the ball was going on and crossed one leg over the other before taking a light sip from the cup of punch she had gotten. She could see already that this was going to be a very long and...enjoyable ball indeed.

Serena walked into the great hall alone wearing her emerald green dress. Her hair was up in a mount of curls on her head some hanging here and there. She then sat down and a table in a chair crossing her arms and legs. She hoped to find a datless guy at the dance to dance with.

Severus edged into the Great Hall, looking extremely nervous and out of place. He no longer wore his usual Hogwarts robes, but wore horribly ugly dark green dress robes, looking like they might have been in fashion perhaps twenty years earlier. The color was rather faded and it looked like they were pulled out from an old storage room, untouched for many years. The robes were rather large and heavy, thick looking and Severus already looked overheated from wearing them. The sleeves were old and almost a velvet type though were very tight, with ugly black lace at the end of his sleeves.
His hair, as always looked like he hasn't washed it for weeks, though had attempted to run a brush through it a couple of times. It fell down in it's normal greasy manner reaching his shoulders, parting so his pale face could be seen.
Severus scowled as a few students called out to him, laughing at what he was wearing though drew his attention away. He'd agreed to come here with Nikki, though didn't see her anywhere. His gaze landed upon Lily with a start, wearing a long red dress, she looked beautiful. It looked as though Potter hadn't managed to be her date. Rather hopeful at the thought, Severus moved away into the edge of the Great Hall, wondering if Nikki even still wanted to be his date, as he hasn't seen her since.

Remus went into the great Hall. He didn't see Stella. But he saw Erika, Lily, Serena, and. Snape. Snape wad old Dress Robes from what Remus could see of them. But he wasn't going to make of him because he was going have a great laugh at the Squid when it comes in.
Remus was navy blue dress robe. They didn't have any Lace on them. Thank goodness for that. For second-hand robes they looked good. The Color of the robe match his eyes. They look a darker Blue. Remus made his way over to Serena. He ask, "Have you seen Stella?"

Remus was so close to laughing He wanted to ask when she was planning on doing that. He knows there has to be more people here if the Squid is going to come in it's dress robes and Bubble charm. "I was thinking of asking when you going to do that. Come to think of it. It will be a good time to get the stuff we need for making the Potions tonight. Many people will try to find out how it got in here right?"

Stella pulled on her hair nervously, her normaly curly hair now lay perfectly straight passed her shoudlers, it framed her face quite nicely. She was wearing her white and black dress, it fit her absolutely prefectly, and as she walked down the stairs with her heels, she tried as hard as she could not to trip. As she entered the great hall, she looked around and saw some people she knew, she smiled widely when she saw Remus, her date. She gave him a small wave and walked over to him, fixing her dress as she walked.

She smiled nervously, and hugged him, "How is the ball so far? Lively enough yet?" She looked Serena up and down, "Well dont you look quite nice." She pulled on a strang of hair that fell into her face and tried to pull it behind her ear, but her bangs were too short. She offered her hand to Remus, hoping he would take it.

Remus saw that Stella's hand was close to his own hand. He reach out and hold her hand. "Sort of. We still waiting for some people to show up. Besides Serena wants the Squid to show up in the Dress robes. It would be funny to see."

Severus remained near the entrance of the Great Hall, looking increasingly nervous. He couldn't see Nikki anywhere, perhaps it had been a joke and she didn't want to come? He tugged on the old lace on the end of his tight sleeves, looking a bit impatient. His gaze lingered on Lily again, wondering if he should go over to talk to her. After a few moments he decided to and stepped off through the crowds of students, some who smirked and laughed when they saw what he was wearing but he didn't seem to notice. Edging through the crowds, he finally called out. "Lily!"
