The scrawny figure made his way into the Great Hall, his cold eyes scanning the Gryffindor table casually as he went. He walks in a rather twitchy manner that resembles a spider, as if expecting an attack any moment. He forced himself to relax a little, he wasn't about to get attacked by certain Gryffindors, there were teachers there. Still, he couldn't help but be ready for something.
He sat down at the Slytherin Table, his face partially hidden behind his greasy black hair. He began piling food into his place, although having no real appetite. His dark eyes scanned the Gryffindor table once more, as if hoping to see the auburn haired girl sitting there he so often looked for, though he didn't see her.
Forcing himself to turn his attention back to his food, he finished putting some bacon, sausages, toast and fruit onto his plate, eating a couple of grapes. His eyes scanned the enchanted ceiling of the Great Hall, wondering when the Owl Post would arrive.

Lily had slept well that night, and she was looking forward to the new day. She got dressed and descended to the great hall for breakfast. Her long, red hair was falling freely down her slim shoulders.
To get to the Gryffindor table, she had to pass the Slytherin one. Severus was sitting there. Lily stopped awkwardly. She really didn't want to talk to him now...actually, she didn't want to talk to him at all after the incident last year. But she had to pass by him. So she chose to just walk by.

Severus looked up at the sound of footsteps, spotting Lily waking by. His expression, which had looked tired before turned hopeful until he realized she was just walking past, seemingly ignoring him. He opened his mouth to say something but chose against it. He was surrounded by other Slytherins and she didn't want to talk to him anyway.
He dropped his gaze back down to his food with a sigh, no longer having an appetite. He prodded his sausages with a fork rather moodily, though not seeming to see the full plate of food in front of him, as his mind was on other matters.

Serena walked into the Great Hall. It was still fairly early. As she sat down at the Gryffindor tableshe put som sausage and toast on her plate. She then reached into her bag and pulled out a novel and began reading it as she nibbled on her toast.

As Lily was making her way towards the Gryffindor table, a guy from the Slytherin one took a piece of chocolate cake and threw it at her.
The cake hit her shoulder, and Lily spun around angrily. All Slytherins were rolling with laughter.
"There you go, you stupid mudblood!" One of them yelled.
Despite the fact she tired her hardest to stop it, a tear appeared in Lily's eye. Then it was followed by another, and soon there were rivers sliding down her cheeks. She turned away, and started running out of the common room.

Severus jumped to his feet what he saw what was happening. He grasped his wand in his robes, though as he saw Lily run from the Great Hall he followed, ignoring the rest of the Slytherins. He couldn't stop them, and wouldn't be foolish to try right now.
"Lily!" He called after her, tripping slightly over the hem of his robes as he hurried out of the Great Hall after her, now looking worried. He couldn't follow her all the way to the Gryffindor Common Room, if that's where she was headed.

Lily didn't go all the way to the Common Room. She only went to the nearest corner, where nobody could see her. She didn't see Severus running after because her eyes were watery and full of tears.
When she finally reached her destination, she leaned onto the wall, sliding down and starting to sob.

Serena seen a few Slytherins call Lily a mud-blood as they threw cake at her, and Lily running out crying with Snape not far behind she then went over to the Slytherins and said, "You really are inconciderate, low lives, who deserve to be Ferrets and Baboons." She then waved her wand and muttered spells under her breath as the Slytherins turned to Ferrets and Baboons.

Severus paused once he was out of the Great Hall, looking around for where Lily had gone. He then spotted Lily leaning up against the wall, sobbing. He only hesitated for a moment before hurrying over, looking concerned. He glanced around, first making sure Potter wasn't anywhere around before stopping next to Lily, though unsure on what to say, but wanting to comfort her somehow.

Lily looked up when she heard some footsteps to see Snape. She didn't know what exactly she felt. She wasn't sure if she wanted him to hug her or if she wanted to slap her. Finally, she spoke.
"What? Did you come here to confirm that I'm a stupid mudblood? Or are you here to throw the rest of that cake into my head?"
She tried to stop the crying, but she just couldn't.

"N-no! Not at all," Severus spoke, looking a bit nervous. He glanced over his shoulder again before stepping closer, putting a hand on her shoulder though looking unsure of himself. "I-I wanted to make sure you were okay," he mumbled, though keeping his gaze on her face. He glanced over his shoulder again to be sure Potter wasn't nearby before returning his attention to Lily.

This mad her angry.
"W-what?" She said, "A-are you ashamed to be seen with me? With a...puny mudblood?"

Serena came around and seen Snape and Lily and said, "Is she okay. Or have you not talked to her yet?" She walked closer putting away her wand as she did so.

Severus glanced back as he saw Serena, rather irritated by her presence there. He stepped back from Lily, though himself looking a bit upset. "N-no...I'm not ashamed," he said quickly, though glancing nervously at Serena. Whatever it was he wanted to say, he didn't want to say it in front of her. How was he to explain to Lily that if Potter saw him near Lily like that he would hex him into oblivion? Severus had longed for the moment he could finally speak to Lily alone and not have to worry about Potter, or anyone else hearing what he wanted to say, but now was not the time. "I'm sorry," he mumbled at last before backing away, throwing an angry glance to Serena even though she hadn't done anything before hurrying away.
