Well. This is annoying. The Ball would be held tomorrow, and while Aaron had all the material necessities, he still didn't have a date. How did that happen? He wasn't really picky - all the girl had to do was be able to hold a worthwhile conversation instead of just making him ask all of the questions. It would help if she was pretty too - for some reason Aaron was favoring brunettes and blondes at the moment. But if shes worth it I suppose I could go with a redhead. Strange really, how his color preferences seemed change with each passing week.
Ordering a butterbeer [who'd have thought that with a name like that, the drink could actually be so good], Aaron sat at one of the numerous oak tables, choosing one that overlooked the bustling street outside. It was slightly cold out today so Aaron, dressed in his casual clothes, had put his favorite black sweater. Comfortable and warm. And didn't look half-bad too.
Returning to his original, slightly depressing train of thought, the Ravenclaw figured, well, I could always find one there. But that would be so boring. Thoughts were interrupted when the bartender brought over a lovely cup of the brew, just waiting to be consumed. Relaxing, Aaron took casual sips of the butterbeer while looking out of the slightly dirty window, hoping to see someone he knew, preferably a girl without a date.

Elizabeth went into The three Broomsticks. She couldn't see any one she knows. She brought a butter beer. She went though the crowd to an empty table. She worn her sweater over her casual Clothes. She could see the street outside from where she sat. Nearby was a boy. He was sitting by himself. He looked lonely. But she didn't know. She wasn't sure what to say to him.

Serena walked into the three broomsticks. She still needed a date for the ball and she didn't care who at this point asked her. Being the guy she truly wanted hadn't asked her yet. She then spotted a boy at a table alone she then walked over after concluding that he seemed lonely and in need of company and said, "Hi, I'm Serena. I thought I come over and talk to you being you looked quite lonely. What's your name?"

Whoah. The Ravenclaw couldn't be sure, but it seemed like two girls were just... looking at him. Well, one had bought a butterbeer - oh, wait. Now he was being talked to. "Hi, I'm Serena. I thought I come over and talk to you being you looked quite lonely. What's your name?" At that introduction it was all Aaron could do to keep from raising his eyebrow, and instead opted for a slight grin. T'was his favorite, the rakish half-smile that many thought to either be utterly obnoxious [usually the teachers] or charming. Not too bad. Motioning his head once at the two chairs - one directly facing the window and one across from him. He caught the first girl's gaze too, silently offering the seat to her as well. Must clear up that 'lonely' bit. That would not be good for my reputation - do I even have one?
'Lo there. I'm Aaron. Don't worry, I wasn't lonely, but you're more than welcome to join me.
Aaron was smart - thats why he was in Ravenclaw. Thats why it was easy to conclude that those two gals probably needed a date and had looked to him as one of the spare guys lying around. Eh. Seemed everyone fell for Potter and Black even if they claimed to hate their arrogance and pranks. But what can you do?

Serena then sat down and said, "Nice to meet you Arron. Do you have a date to the ball?" She knew she was a little to straight forward but she needed a date and hopefully he did to.

Well that was quick. Not one for small talk, hmm? Now feeling slightly nervous - how come that time with Nikki was different? - Aaron ran a hand lightly through his dark brown hair, causing it to stick up more than it usually did [there is no way I'm combing it down for this ball]. Glancing at the Hufflepuff girl - didn't seem like either the Gryffindor or the Slytherin type and he hadn't seen her in the Ravenclaw common room, he wondered if she too wanted to ask him but the black-haired one had beat her at it. Kinda awkward. I mean, he couldn't just have an entire conversation with someone when another was looking on. Made one kinda self-conscious, ya think?
Er. No, actually. What about yourselves?
Not wanting to be rude, Aaron tried to include the Hufflepuffian in the conversation - to be honest, she was actually quite pretty and he wouldn't mind going with her. But the other one was the one that was talking, though he did feel slightly overwhelmed about how quick it was moving along.

Serena replied, "No, I don't." She then said mentally, Oh great I bet I'm gonna get dissed.

Still smiling - it hadn't left his face - Aaron pondered on what to say next. There really wasn't much he could say, not unless the other gal had something to add to the conversation, meager though it was. Seizing the opportunity to drink his butterbeer, Aaron placidly gazed out the window for a moment, mind mentally forming up scenarios in which to reply to the "No, I don't" response. Stealing a glance at the Hufflepuff brought on a burst of inspiration - a pleasant thought that could quickly be put into words.
The butterbeer here is great - why don't you join us in a cuppa?
Perfect. Now they could sit around drinking butterbeer - that would add a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. And Aaron would get to know more about Serena - and, hopefully, the silent one.

Serena then thought, Well maybe I can still get him as my date to the ball even if she joins us. She then said to Arron, "So what's your favorite school subject?"

Dang. It hadn't worked. Serena hadn't ordered the butterbeer, and now it was still just him and the Hufflepuff taking their fill. But now Serena had opened the doorway to a new conversation, one that would no doubt be a vital part in his decision between the two gals. Aaron was glad that now he could add that knowledge to the pot - he wasn't going to say another word until they had both spoken up.
Well, Transfiguration and Defense Against the Dark Arts are my favorites, though I am good at Muggle Studies, Ancient Runes and Care of Magical Creatures.
The Ravenclaw had been quite surprised when he had found he had an aptitude for the last subject, seeing as it didn't really capture his interest. There were few subjects that Aaron absolutely hated, and he didn't like thinking about them - useless, the lot of them.

Serena nodded and replied, "My strongest and favorite is Defence Against the Dark Arts. Do you like quidditch?" She finally asked with a questioning look.

Elizabeth joined them at the table. She didn't have a date to the ball yet. She was glad she wasn't the only that needs a date to the ball. She hoped she will get a date today. "My favorite subject is Transfiguration. I am good at it too."

Serena looked at the girl that came over and smiled politly before turning back to Arron waiting for him to answer the question she had asked about him liking quidditch.

Goodie goodie. Now he could get to answering Serena's quidditch-related question. Though to be honest, he didn't get to replying quickly, casually taking a drought of his butterbeer while contemplating the two girls responses, noting the fact that Elizabeth [finally - knew I'd heard that name around somewhere] had joined them with a warm smile. Seems they share my interests. Cool. Aaron didn't know if they were lying to perhaps gain favor, and he really didn't want to find out. Not sure of how to respond to their answers, the Ravenclaw continued on before Serena became impatient.
Quidditch is ok. Personally though, I'd rather just fly for pleasure.
Now experiencing a mood change from wanting to drive away the topic of the ball to actually desiring to discuss it, Aaron launched another question for which he made himself the same promise that he had before - wait for the two to answer, then give his own reply while judging theres. Whoah. Now I know why mum tells me I'm way too intense.
So how'd two lovely ladies like yourselves end up with no date to the ball?
Aaron knew that his question was shockingly personal, but he had a lot to learn from their reactions. Never let it be said that Aaron will ever pass up the opportunity to learn... especially from his mistakes.

Serena then said, "Most don't notice me and the ones that do despise me except one Remus Lupin who's in my house. He's my friend." "Why don't you have a date to the ball?" She asked in return.
